Inauguration of New Building of Pune Chapter of ICSI

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Pune chapter’s new office was inaugurated on Sunday, 26th August 2018at the hands of CS Makarand Lele, President ICSI. The new office is located at Shreyas Apartments Condominium, Sr. No. 50, Hissa No 5&6, Near Gananjay Society, D.P. Road, Kothrud, Pune.



This three-storey office has been set up for ICSI members and students in6750 sq. ft. which also includes library, conference hall and class room for students.

Speaking on the occasion, CS Makarand Lele, President, ICSI congratulated the team of Pune Chapter for the new premises which was pending for more than 10 years and explained Council’s vision about CS profession to the delegates present on this occasion.

CS Omkar V Deosthale , Chairman, Pune Chapter appraised the members about the need for new premises for Pune considering the growth of  profession and expressed gratitude towards all stakeholders involved in the project for  acquiring  new premises.

At this event, CS Ahalada V. Rao, Vice President ICSI, CS Omkar Deosthale- Chairman, Pune Chapter, CS Ashish Doshi, Central Council member ICSI, CS C. Ramasubramaniam, Central Council Member, ICSI and Mr. B Pradhan, Director (Infrastructure) were also present. 
 
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a premier professional body set up under an Act of Parliament, i.e., Company Secretaries Act, 1980, for the regulation and development of the profession of Company Secretaries in India. It functions under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The Institute, being a pro-active body, focuses on best and top-quality education to students of Company Secretaries Course and best quality set standards for CS members. The institute has over 55,000 members and about 3 lakh students on its roll.

“It’s easy to start a business but difficult to continue”: Ms. Rohini Deshmukh

deAsra Foundation organised a workshop on ‘Food Business’ for those interested in doing this business, the feature of this workshop was that 20 tips to run a food business were given. This workshop was organized at MCCIA, Pudumaji Hall, Pune.

Food Business is one of the fastest growing industries in India. But there are many challenges like initially legal formalities, business management, marketing, productivity and how to control the quality of your product, as well as barcoding and production store.

Ms Rohini Deshmukh, Udyog Mitra, deAsra Foundation gave guidance to the entrepreneurs present. Also provided information about courses that are available from the government for food processing and also what documents and procedures are required to start the business.

Ms Rohini Deshmukh said, “It is easy to start a business but difficult to continue. For the first six months, you have to be persistent in business and let the business continue without expecting much profit during this period”. She further said, “If the customer is given more than their expectations in the food business, then it will be helpful to gain more customers”.

The workshop touched upon the points like the scaling of business, managing orders, hygiene, study of market trends, and how to expand your business. Also, the question-answer session was done and more than 80 entrepreneurs were present at the workshop.

Annapurna Pariwar, a real support for Pariwars in Slums

Annapurna Pariwar, a group of 5 NGOs working for the uplift of slum dwellers in Pune and Mumbai. Annapurna celebrates its Founder’s day in the month of August.  The function is a celebrated as a tribute to Late Dada Purao (Com. Narendra S. Purao) whose birthday falls in August and who was visionary leader with a deep sense of commitment for the emancipation of all the toiling masses of the country. This year, a book on ‘Future of Public Sector Banks in India’ released by Mr. Devidas Tuljapurkar, Joint Secretary, All India Bank Employees Association and Chief Guest of the event.



After having participated in India’s freedom struggle, he realized that political freedom bereft of economic freedom, particularly for ordinary masses, is futile and meaningless.  Therefore, he devoted his energies for organizing  Bank employees, textile workers in the city of Mumbai and in a short span earned  respect as an accomplished Trade Union Leader and rose to prominence as a vanguard national leader of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) a biggest and prominent Trade Union Organisation of middle class bank employees  of the country.

Annapurna’s Dada Purao Research & Training Institute (DPR&TI) undertakes special studies, research projects and allied activities at local, regional and state level and works out models of micro finance and combines with other ancillary and other related activities to ensure social security and dignified life to the deprived sections of the society.  Needless to say that towns and cities cannot grow and sustain themselves without resolving the problems of urban poverty.

Every year DPR&TI publishes a book based on its social interventions showing the impact of its various programs and the challenges ahead.  This year, Annapurna has released a book on ‘Future of Public Sector Banks in India’ written by Mr. M.K. Datar, former General Manager, IDBI Bank.

Dr. Medha Purao Samant, Founder Director, Annapurna Pariwar, said, “DPRC has now been registered as a legal entity - a Trust which will undertake training of students and publication of books.”

Mr. Devidas Tuljapurkar praised Dada Purao’s work for welfare of bank employees, He also said “Today is the age of Finance - as it plays a very important role. Recent banking frauds exposed weaknesses of bank systems. But the main problem was of loan overdues of big borrowers. Privatisation to bail them out was not the option.”

Com. Bhalchandra Kango, who published the quarterly magazine said, “People’s money needs to be used for people’s welfare. Actual problem is that the government elected by us does not work for us. Banking sector is facing bad times today with the common man being taxed for the purpose.

Economic literacy needs to be imparted to the common man and Annapurna is one of the organisations doing this successfully”.
